MP Backs Call to Save Measham’s Last Looclosure mania is sweeping through the local corridors of powerDavid Taylor MP has given his support to Measham Parish Council in their campaign against the possible closure of the High Street Public Conveniences ,Measham . Following the closure of the toilets on Leicester Road, the facility off High Street is the only public convenience left in the village. David said “The Parish Council objects most strongly to any proposal to close this facility and feel that under no circumstances must this happen. I agree with them and have let the District Council knows my views. With the increase in population, tourism and businesses along with the adjacent library; removal of this service would be a backward step. “All three tiers of local government should be actively striving to promote vibrant, thriving communities with a whole range of public facilities for both parishioners and visitors. Instead, an outbreak of closure mania is sweeping through the local corridors of power with care homes, Moira Fire Station, Snibston Discovery Park and now Measham’s last public loo joining the growing list of facilities under threat.” Ends
