MP Welcomes Fair Rent Deal for Council Tenants

David Taylor MP has welcomed an announcement of further support for council tenants by Housing Minister John Healey.

David said “This is good news for council tenants here in North West Leicestershire and up and down the country. For the second year running, the Government is proposing to halve the guideline rents increase for council housing tenants. Under Mr Healey's proposals rents for 2010//11 will remain affordable and well below market levels in what are continuing difficult times - with rent levels suggested at 3.1% rather than the 6.1% previously agreed with local authorities. “
