Big Lottery Fund Tourlocal schools benefit from NOPESDavid Taylor MP and Mick McGrath from the Big Lottery Fund have toured three local scholols to see how they have benefitted from lottery funding. King Edward VII Community College, Coalville was awarded £421,445; Swannington C of e primary school £42,865 and Newbridge high school £65,845. david said “I was delighted to visit all three sites to see how lottery funding has resulted not only in attractive new facilities but also increased levels of participation in sport by the pupils and students – particularly important if we are to tackle the growing problems of physical inactivity and obesity.” “The King Edward VII College flood lit synthetic turf pitch is being extensively used by a wide variety of groups both within the school and in the wider community. “The Swannington C of E Primary School multi-use games area and ball court overcame site difficulties to add to the attractions of this excellent village school. “The Newbridge High School multi-use games area will soon be complemented by a new sports hall and I’m very pleased that this has now got the go-ahead. “These are three excellent local examples of how the Big Lottery Fund New Opportunities for PE and Sport Programme has made a difference through nearly £40 million worth of grants to 151 projects across the East Midlands.”
